InformationWeek: Microsoft has officially released the shipping timetable for Windows 8. The operating system will be released to manufacturing the first week of August. Later that month, the new OS will become available for enterprises to download, and systems featuring Windows 8 will become available for purchase in October.
The new operating system will come in four flavors: Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro, Windows 8 Enterprise, and Windows 8 RT. Upgrading to Windows 8 will cost just $39.99 if purchased before January 31, 2013.
