Samsung Ships 52.1 Million Smartphones in Q2, Doubles iPhone

Cnet: A new report from Juniper Research estimates that Samsung shipped 52.1 million smartphones in the second quarter, making it the top smartphone manufacturer for the period. Apple came in second, but only sold half as many iPhones–about 26 million. Nokia and RIM both struggled during the quarter, shipping 10.2 million and 7.4 million units, respectively.

Overall, smartphone shipments continued to rise, climbing from 105.2 million in the second quarter of 2011 to 132.9 million during the same period this year.
