Rivals Rush to Announce Products Before Apple's New iPhone

Amazon, Samsung, Microsoft, Nokia, Google and Motorola are all announcing new mobile devices at the beginning of September.

PCWorld: Unconfirmed rumors say that Apple will announce a new iPhone and/or a new iPad on September 12, and as a result, Amazon, Samsung, Microsoft, Nokia, Google and Motorola have all made plans to announce their new smartphones and tablets before then. Here's quick rundown of scheduled events:

  • August 29, Berlin--Samsung scheduled an event where it is expected to announce a new smartphone, the Galaxy Note II.
  • September 5, New York--Nokia and Microsoft have scheduled an event where they are expected to announce a new Lumia smartphone, probably running a new version of Windows Phone.
  • September 5, New York--Google's Motorola division and Verizon have scheduled a competing event where they are expected to announce the Droid Razr HD smartphone.
  • September 6, Santa Monica, Calif.--Amazon has scheduled an event where it is expected to announce a new Kindle Fire tablet.
