Nokia, Microsoft Take Wraps Off Windows Phone for AT&T

Both companies are relying on the new smartphone to boost lackluster sales.

Bloomberg BusinessWeek: Among the bigger product announcements yesterday at CES was the unveiling of the Nokia Lumia 900. The Windows Phone 7-based smartphone will be offered exclusively through AT&T, the biggest carrier to support a Nokia/Windows smartphone so far. The Lumia 900 is also the first Nokai/Windows phone to offer next generation LTE technology.

Both companies hope the new device will boost their lackluster smartphone sales and serve as the flagship for a revitalized product line. “The Lumia 900 is not only about a great device, but it’s also about inspiring a great ecosystem,” said Nokia CEO Stephen Elop. “An ecosystem is more than just the apps. It’s more than the device. It’s more than the operating system.”

No word on when the device will hit shelves or what the final price will be.
