Reuters: Although Android generated $97.7 million in revenue for Google in 2010, the mobile platform actually lost money for the company in every quarter of that year. That's according to Judge William Alsup, who is overseeing the trial for the Java-related lawsuit brought by Oracle. Google gave the judge a sealed document containing financial information and discussed the numbers with him privately. The judge did not reveal the details, but did say, "That adds up to a big loss for the whole year."
The court will not determine damages in the case until the third portion of the trial. Currently, the jury is working to come to a verdict on the first portion of the case, which concerns copyright infringement.
