NetworkWorld: IBM has released the results of a new survey which finds that only 13 percent of enterprises have embraced cloud computing in a substantial way. However, the same report predicts that 41 percent of enterprises will substantially move to the cloud within three years.
Currently, 72 percent of the 572 executives surveyed said that they had been involved with the cloud in some way, including piloting a cloud project. But within three years, 90 percent of respondents expected to have at least minimal involvement with cloud computing.
Interestingly, business and IT executives disagreed about the importance of the cloud. While 62 percent of IT managers said that cloud computing is a major component of their IT strategy, only 38 percent of business executives said that the cloud was a priority for the company.
