The Wall Street Journal: Google is purchasing the Frommer's travel-guide business from publisher John Wiley & Sons Inc. An unnamed source puts the price tag at $25 million.
For years, Google asserted that it only wanted to be in the search business, not the content business. However, the company has been moving into the content business in recent years. In addition to Frommer's, Google owns the review and ratings service Zagat Survey.
Other travel-related sites have expressed concern that Google will direct search traffic to its own Frommer's content rather than providing impartial listings of various travel websites.
