Farewell Laptop? Mobile Internet Use Jumps

More than half of U.S. cell phone owners use their phones to surf the Internet.

PCMag: According to the latest report from the Pew Internet & American Life Project, 55 percent of all American cell phone owners say they use their phones to browse the Internet, an increase from 31 percent in 2009. Of those who browse from their phones, almost a third said that they primarily access the Web through their mobile phones. The report says that the increase of those browsing from their phones has coincided with the increase in smartphone ownership.

The report also revealed that nearly 90 percent of U.S. adults now own a cell phone.
