Ars Technica: According to the latest report on browser usage from Net Applications, Internet Explorer accounted for 49.59 percent of all Web browsing in October, the first time in more than a decade that it dropped below 50 percent. Firefox has been holding steady with 21.20 percent of the market. At the same time, Google’s Chrome has been steadily increasing its share of the market and now has 16.60 percent.

In the mobile browser battle, Apple’s Safari has the clear lead at 62.17 percent market share, which is somewhat surprising given the fact that there are so many more Android users than iOS users. In fact, Android’s browser comes in third with a 13.12 percent share after Opera Mini with an 18.65 percent share.
