Skype Pays Around $85 Million for GroupMe

FriendFeedAllThingsD: Skype has announced the purchase of GroupMe, a start-up founded in April 2010 at a TechCrunch event. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but unnamed sources say the acquisition will cost Skype around $85 million.
GroupMe offers group messaging services that work on most smartphone platforms.
