Ars Technica: Kernel.org, which hosts the archives for the kernel of the open source Linux operating system, has confirmed that its site was hacked in early August. Those involved believe that a hacker obtained a legitimate user’s login credentials and uploaded a trojan into the code repository.

The site administrators are wiping their servers and changing the login credentials for everyone authorized to use the site. The site also hosts the Android code, which has also been taken offline temporarily.
