Wired: A new bulletin from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) says that the hacktivist group Anonymous has express interest in attacking the U.S.'s critical infrastructure, but that the agency believes the group does not have the capabilities to do so -- yet. “The information available on Anonymous suggests they currently have a limited ability to conduct attacks targeting [industrial control systems],” said the report. “However, experienced and skilled members of Anonymous in hacking could be able to develop capabilities to gain access and trespass on control system networks very quickly.”
The DHS warns that oil and gas companies are particularly likely to be targeted by Anonymous. Other possible targets include chemical plants and water and sewage treatment facilities.
