Windows Server 2012 Release Candidate: Metro Lives!

The next version of Windows Server will include the consumer-oriented, touchscreen friendly Metro interface.

The Verge: On Thursday, Microsoft unveiled a release candidate for Windows Server 2012. The release candidate is expected to be the last version of the software before the final release. It includes mostly minor cosmetic changes from the previous beta version of the operating system, such as changing the background screen color from green to blue.

The release candidate does confirm Microsoft's somewhat controversial decision to use the new Metro interface for the server OS. Metro was designed for consumers and touchscreens, not for IT pros managing server hardware, but the release candidate doesn't appear to have a way to turn off the Metro interface.
