Computerworld: U.S. Circuit Court Judge Richard A. Posner has canceled the Apple v. Motorola Mobility patent infringement trial that was  scheduled to begin Monday. "I have tentatively decided that the case should be dismissed with prejudice because neither party can establish a right to relief," he said.

Apple originally sued Motorola for patent infringement, and Motorola countersued saying that Apple violated one of its patents. Judge Posner had previously trimmed down the number of patents involved in the case. Based on the smaller number of patents, the judge ruled that neither side could prove damages caused by the other, but he is giving himself a week to re-consider before the case dismissal becomes final.
