eWeek: A new report from comScore finds that tablets are becoming much more commonplace. A year ago, less than 10 percent of smartphone owners also owned a tablet; now 24 percent of smartphone owners have a tablet. The report found that tablet ownership was most common among people aged 25-44 and that tablet ownership is more common in higher-earning households.
Also, comScore discovered that tablet owners are three times as likely as smartphone owners to watch video on their devices. Ten percent of tablet owners say they watch video "habitually." ComScore's Mark Donovan noted, “Tablets are one of the most rapidly adopted consumer technologies in history and are poised to fundamentally disrupt the way people engage with the digital world, both on the go and perhaps mostly notably, in the home." He added, “It’s not surprising to see that once consumers get their hands on their first tablets, they are using them for any number of media habits, including TV viewing.”
