Survey: Google Ranks High Despite Privacy Fears

Pew reports that 83 percent of people say Google is their favorite search engine.

USAToday: A new survey conducted by the Pew Internet & American Life Project found that 84 percent of respondents picked Google as their favorite search engine. That was a dramatic increase from 2004, when just 47 percent of those surveyed preferred Google.

However, Google's new privacy policies could soon erode its popularity ratings. Almost 75 percent of those surveyed do not want search engines to use personal information to deliver personalized search results. In addition, more than two-thirds of respondents do not want to see targeted ads.
