Supercomputer with ARM Processors Being Built in Spain

The new supercomputer won't be among the world's fastest, but it might be among the world's greenest.

Computerworld: The Barcelona Supercomputing Center in Spain will soon be home to a new supercomputer that will incorporate Nvidia's quad-core Tegra 3 chips with ARM technology. According to Nvidia's Steve Scott, the new supercomputer likely won't be among the world's fastest, but it might be included on the Green500, a list of the world's most energy efficient supercomputers. The new system will use a combination of CPUs and GPUs to handle scientific workloads.

Currently, ARM chips dominate the smartphone and tablet market, but they have almost no presence in the server market. This new project could help ARM get a foothold in the server market.
