Bloomberg: According to market research firm Gartner, Samsung sells about three times as many smartphones as Apple does in the world’s largest mobile phone market, China. Samsung currently owns 24 percent of the Chinese smartphone market, making it the number one smartphone manufacturer in the country. Apple enjoys just 7.5 percent of the market, making it China’s fifth most popular manufacturer.

Gartner attributes Samsung’s success in the country in part to its decision to work with all of the major carriers in the country; Apple does not work with China Mobile, the largest wireless provider in the country.

Smartphone shipments to China are expected to increase 52 percent this year.
