Samsung Expands Patent Fight with Apple in Germany

Reuters: Korean-based Samsung has filed four new patent-infringement complaints against Apple in Germany. According to a spokesperson, “two [of the complaints] are standard-related patents, and the other two are utility patents.” One of the patents in question covers the use of emoticons.

Samsung and Apple are currently embroiled in a patent war that spans courts around the globe. As part of that conflict, Samsung filed a German lawsuit against Apple last April, but the court reportedly said it would try these four new claims separately.
