Playing with Fire: Amazon Launches a $200 Tablet

Will Amazon's new tablet be a true competitor for the iPad?

Wired: On Wednesday, Amazon unveiled its highly anticipated new tablet. The Android-based "Fire" features a 7-inch color screen, weighs 14.6 ounces, and has 8 GB of storage, but unlike many competing tablets, it doesn't have a camera, a GPS or 3G connectivity. However, that may not matter to customers who are attracted to the Fire's low price--just $199.

At the same event, Amazon also introduced two new Kindle e-Readers, including one that costs just $79.
