NetworkWorld: Based on data collected with its "X-Ray" scanning tool, mobile security vendor Duo Security believes that more than half of Android devices in use contain unpatched vulnerabilities. "Yes, it's a scary number, but it exemplifies how important expedient patching is to mobile security and how poorly the industry (carriers, device manufacturers, etc) has performed thus far," said Duo Security founder and CTO Jon Oberheide.

BitDefender's Bogdan Botezatu noted, "Since the launch of our mobile security solution, root exploits have been some of the most frequently encountered threats." He pointed to the "Rage Against The Cage" exploit, the "GingerBreak" exploit, the "Exploid" exploit and the "Asroot" exploit as examples of the widespread problem.
