ZDNet: On Wednesday, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison officially unveiled the Oracle Cloud, his company's new public cloud computing offering. “It’s been a long time coming,” he acknowledged. “We made a decision to rebuild all of our applications for the cloud almost seven years ago.”

Currently, Oracle Cloud offers more than 100 enterprise applications with services tailored for databases, Java developers, mobile, analytics, and more. The offering is standards-based and will allow customers to “move things gracefully back and forth” between the public cloud an on-premise systems.
