CIO: Oracle is releasing a "sneak peak" of new features slated for inclusion in the next version of the MySQL open source database. Those features include full-text search for InnoDB storage engine tables, an increase in the maximum size of InnoDB redo log files to 2TB, faster replication and a new API.

The MySQL 5.6 files are now available for download, but Oracle warns that they are not yet ready for use in production environments.
