'Occupy Flash' Movement Wants Adobe's Plug-In Dead

A group of developers want to get Flash off the desktop, as well as off mobile devices.

Computerworld: Recently, Adobe announced that it would no longer be developing Flash technology for mobile devices. That wasn't good enough for some developers. They've formed a group called "Occupy Flash" that is dedicated to getting Flash off the desktop as well.

"Flash Player is dead. Its time has passed. It's buggy. It crashes a lot. It requires constant security updates," says the Occupy Flash site. "It's a fossil, left over from the era of closed standards and unilateral corporate control of Web technology."

The group is calling for people to uninstall the Flash plug-in and for developers to switch to HTML5 technology instead.
