New iPad Has 'Record Weekend'

Tim Cook doesn't get specific about iPad sales numbers, but does say the company will issue dividends and buy back some stock.

PCWorld: Apple CEO Tim Cook kicked off the week with a conference call during which he claimed record sales numbers for the new iPad. He declined to give any specific figures, but did say, "We had a record weekend, and we are thrilled with it."

The real purpose of the call was to announce Apple's plan for what to do with all of its cash. The company will issue stockholders a dividend of $2.65 a share during its fourth fiscal quarter. In addition, Apple will begin a a $10 billion stock repurchase program after September 1.
