MySQL.com Hacked to Serve Malware

The website for Oracle's popular open source database was hacked--and fixed--on Monday.

Computerworld: On Monday, MySQL.com was serving malware to visitors for several hours. Security vendor Armorize reported the problem around 5 am Pacific time on Monday, and Oracle had fixed the issue by 11 am. Site visitors who had not recently updated their browsers or other software may have been infected.

Oracle, which owns the MySQL open source database, is still investigating the incident.

Recently, a Russian hacker has been offering root access to the MySQL servers for $3,000.
