The Seattle Times: At its Windows Phone Summit Wednesday, Microsoft revealed more details about Windows Phone 8. The new mobile OS will share a core kernel with the Windows 8 desktop OS. As a result, "developers working on Windows 8 will have incredibly easy transition to Windows Phone 8," said Microsoft's Joe Belfiore.

New features in Windows Phone 8 will include resize-able live tiles, NFC support, enhanced security, multi-core processor support and support for additional screen resolutions.

Apps that run on Windows Phone 7 will run on Windows Phone 8, but handsets that support Windows Phone 7 will not be able to run Windows Phone 8.
