It's been a year since Microsoft purchased enterprise collaboration platform Yammer. Microsoft took advantage of the anniversary to announce usage statistics and new plans for integrating Yammer into its enterprise applications.
TechCrunch's Ingrid Lunden reported, "The company says that in the last year, total subscribers are up 55% and are now approaching 8 million, with usage activity — that includes messages, and photo/file exchanges — doubling in that time. Yammer says that paid networks increased by 200% over last year, although it doesn’t give an indication as to how much that translates into in terms of actual revenues or users."
PCWorld's Juan Carlos Perez noted, "Upcoming integration points between Yammer and Microsoft products will include email interoperability, document collaboration and enterprise search, as Microsoft pursues its plan to make Yammer a common enterprise social collaboration layer across its business software. The news comes on Tuesday, the one-year anniversary of Microsoft’s announcement that it was acquiring Yammer for $1.2 billion primarily to boost the enterprise social networking capabilities of its SharePoint collaboration server."
V3 quoted Yammer's David Sacks, who said, "The continued boom in Yammer’s growth is validation that enterprise social represents an important trend in the way people want to share, learn and connect at work, similar to how they’re interacting in their personal lives. During the past year, Yammer has unlocked new opportunities to share the benefits of enterprise social through Microsoft’s global sales organisation and product ties with key communication, collaboration and cloud productivity offerings, such as Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM."
CNET's Shara Tibken added, "Your co-workers will now be able to see how influential you are through a new partnership between Klout and Microsoft's Yammer. Klout, which gives users an influence or Klout score based on their presence on social media and the general Web, will now allow users to show their Klout score and topics of influence in their Yammer profiles, the company said Tuesday in a blog post. Klout also is beginning the process of ingesting data from Yammer to create a Yammer-specific Klout Score."
