Microsoft Shows 'Touch Screen' for Any Surface

New Kinect-based technology turns any surface into an input device.

Cnet: At a user interface symposium this week, Microsoft Research is demonstrating a new Kinect-based technology that turns any surface into a touch screen. Called OmniTouch, the wearable device projects images onto everyday surfaces, and a camera captures how the user interacts with the images.

The camera, manufactured by PrimeSense, uses the Kinect technology developed for the XBox 360, modified for short-range use.
