Microsoft Sees 350 Million Windows 7 Devices This Year

Strong momentum for Windows 7 could help boost interest in Windows 8.

TGDaily: At an event in South Korea, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer predicted that there will be 350 million devices running Windows 7 by the end of the year. He said that would make Windows "the most popular single system." Microsoft had sold 350 million Windows 7 licenses within 18 months after releasing the OS, but that has yet to translate into actual devices.

Observers say that strong sales for Windows 7 could generate more enthusiasm for the release of Windows 8.
