Microsoft Renews $100m Linux Deal with Suse

Microsoft will purchase Suse Linux Enterprise certificates and agrees not to sue Suse.

ZDNet: Microsoft has reached an agreement with Suse (now owned by Attachmate) to extend their server interoperability pact. Under the terms of the deal, Microsoft will pay $100 million for Suse Linux Enterprise certificates which allow Microsoft customers who also use Suse Linux to get support. In addition, although Microsoft believes that Linux violates hundreds of its patents, it agrees not to sue Suse or customers who use Suse.

The deal extends an earlier pact which was signed five years ago. The new agreement will last until 2016.
