CRN: U.S.-based EMC and China-based Lenovo have entered a new partnership aimed at helping both companies better compete in enterprise server markets. The agreement has three key parts. First, the two will work together to boost sales of Lenovo servers through various means, including embedding Lenovo servers in some EMC storage systems. Second, Lenovo will sell EMC storage products to Lenovo customers in China. Third, Lenovo will become a joint owner of EMC's Iomega division, which sells external hard drives, network-attached storage (NAS) and multimedia devices.
Lenovo is the world's second largest PC maker, behind HP, and it is working hard this year to increase its share of the server market. EMC is a leader in the storage industry and wants to expand its presence in the Chinese market.
