The Verge: Mac users have long felt safe from cyberthreats because most hackers targeted Windows systems, but that might be coming to an end. Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of security vendor Kaspersky Lab, says that OS X users should expect to see a lot more malware aimed at the platform. He said that Apple is “10 years behind Microsoft in terms of security” and he expects the company will face “the same problems Microsoft had ten or 12 years ago.”

He added, “They [Apple] will have to make changes in terms of the cycle of updates and so on and will be forced to invest more into their security audits for the software.”
