eWeek: A new survey from CDW finds that IT decision makers are more optimistic about spending plans than they’ve been in five years. CDW’s six-month growth outlook composite score climbed to 71, the highest its been since October of 2007. Overall, 42 percent of IT decision makers said that they expect their IT budgets to increase. In particular, the survey found many more state and federal government IT departments and medium-sized businesses are expecting budget increases than in previous surveys.

“The data indicates that the IT spending outlook has reached a significant milestone. More IT decision-makers are feeling optimistic about the prospects of their IT budgets increasing, and they are anticipating significant IT investments in the next six months, especially on the hardware and software fronts,” said CDW exec Neal Campbell. “We believe that organizations will continue to look at technology investments as ways to boost efficiencies, increase productivity and gain new competitive advantages in 2012.”
