InformationWeek: IBM is adding to its portfolio of cloud computing products by purchasing Canadian vendor Platform Computing. Details of the acquisition were not made public, but IBM did say that it expects the deal to close in the fourth quarter of this year.

Platform Computing makes products that help manage distributed computing infrastructure, as well as automation tools that help companies deploy private clouds. The company has more than 2,000 customers, many of whom use its products in high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
