IBM, HP Still Server Top-Dogs, Despite Sales Dip Last Year

Gartner says worldwide server shipments increased 7 percent year-over-year in the most recent quarter.

ZDNet: According to Gartner's third-quarter estimates, worldwide server shipments increased 7 percent year-over-year, but revenues increased just 5 percent to $12.3 billion. IBM sold the most servers during the period with 30 percent of the market, but HP was close behind with 29.3 percent. Dell grew it's market share 6.3 percent to capture 15 percent of the market, while Oracle remained steady with 6 percent of the market.

HP said that its sales of both x86 and Itanium servers were down for the quarter.
