IBM, HP Server Sales Fall in Q2, While Dell Revenue Grows

IBM and HP tie as the manufacturers with the highest revenue from server sales.

Computerworld: According to IDC, server shipments dropped 3.6 percent in the second quarter--the first decrease in three years. Revenue declined 4.8 percent.

HP and IBM tied for first place in terms of server revenue, with 29.6 and 29.2 percent of the market, respectively. However, server revenue declined at both companies: 8.2 percent at IBM and 5 percent at HP. Third place Dell was the only major server manufacturer whose revenue increased; it posted gains of 5.9 percent. Oracle and Fujitsu placed fourth and fifth.
