Google+ Usage Skyrockets, Hits 50 Million Users?

Traffic to the Google+ site climbed 1269 percent last week.

PCMag: Experian Hitwise reports that traffic to the Google+ social networking site jumped up 1269 percent last week when Google opened the service to all users. That made Google+ the eighth most popular social network on Hitwise's list, right behind MySpace.

Meanwhile, Ancestry.com founder Paul Allen has been using census data to estimate the number of users signed up for the site. "Yesterday (give or take a few days) Google+ likely crossed the 50 million user mark," Allen wrote Monday. "And since being opened to the general public (over age 18) last week, Google+ has been growing by at least 4 percent per day, meaning that around 2 million new users have been signing up each day."
