Google to Merge Checkout With Wallet

The two payment services will be combined, and the Wallet name will go away.

PCWorld: Google says that it plans to merge its two payment services: Checkout and Wallet. Currently, Checkout processes Web payments, while Wallet, introduced in September, processes mobile transactions. Customers will soon be able to use the same login credentials for both services.

The Wallet name will slowly be phased out. "Early next year, we will work closely with our merchant partners to switch to the Google Wallet logo and share details on new and upcoming features," Google's Ben Lee announced in a blog.
