eWeek: Google and social networking startup Fridge have both confirmed that the smaller company has been acquired by the tech giant. The Fridge founders and employees will begin working on the Google+ social network, and they will bring with them technology that makes it easier to create private groups within a social network, as well as tools for photo sharing and event planning.

In a blog post about the acquisition, Fridge co-founder Austin Chang wrote, "We strongly believe in the group social experience and couldn't think of a better place to realize our vision of bringing the nuance and richness of real-life sharing to the Web as part of the Google+ Project."
