Cnet: People who live near Stanford University are now live with Google's ultra-fast-broadband test project. The service, which is free for one year, provides Internet access that is about 100 times faster than regular broadband connections. One person who lives in the test area reported download speeds of 150Mbps and upload speeds around 92Mbps.

Google is also building a larger fiber project in Kansas City, Kansas.
