ZDNet: Because of fluctuations in the value of the U.S. dollar, market research firm Gartner has revised it forecast for 2012 global IT spending. Instead of 3.7 percent growth, the company now projects 2.5 percent growth. However, in constant dollars, the total growth would be 5.2 percent.

A weak dollar inflates IT spending numbers, and the reverse happens when the dollar strengthens. Gartner's Richard Gordon said that overall, the “global outlook has brightened a little,” despite the slightly lower growth predictions.
