NetworkWorld: According to (ISC)2’s 2012 Career Impact Survey, only seven percent of information security professionals had been unemployed at any point in 2011. Those who had been laid off quickly found new jobs, as less than four percent of those surveyed (80 out of 2,256) were out of work at the time of the survey.

The research also turned up other signs of a boom in the information security job market:

  • 62 percent of respondents say their companies plan to hire more information security staff this year.
  • 70 percent of respondents saw salary hikes in 2011.
  • 55 percent of respondents expect additional salary increases this year.
