The New York Times: Reports of a “mini” iPad have surfaced again. Earlier this month, Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal reported that Apple was working on a smaller version of its tablet, and now unnamed sources have told The New York Times the same thing. According to the latest report, the newest iPad will have a 7.85-inch screen and will sell for “significantly less” than $499, the price of the iPad 2.

The sources say the smaller iPad will debut before the end of the year.
