Android to Run on Intel Chips

Google and Intel have announced a new partnership.

InformationWeek: Tuesday at the Intel Developer Forum, Intel and Google announced a new partnership that will allow mobile devices using Intel's Atom chips to run Google's Android operating system. To stress the point, Intel CEO Paul Otellini showed conference attendees a smartphone that was running Android on an Intel chip.

Most current mobile devices run on ARM-based chips. Intel is hoping its low-power Atom chips will be able to compete for a share of that market.
