Android Grabs 52% U.S. Smartphone Share: NPD

Researchers say that Android now has its highest U.S. market share ever.

eWeek: A new report from market research firm NPD group says that Android accounted for 52 percent of new smartphone sales in the U.S. during the second quarter. That's the highest ever market share for Google's mobile operating system.

Apple's iOS also grew its market share during the quarter, climbing to 29 percent. However, RIM's BlackBerry fell to just 11 percent of the market. Windows Phone 7, Windows Mobile and HP's web OS each hovered below 5 percent of the market.
