AMD Breaks Chip Speed Record

SHARE

PCWorld: AMD's forthcoming FX processor, codenamed Bulldozer, has officially become the fastest processor in the world. By overclocking the chip, AMD achieved speeds of 8.429GHz, which broke the previous record of 8.308GHz.

Don't expect to acheive these speeds on your own system, however. In order to break the record, AMD used a system designed for extreme overclocking which included an expensive liquid helium cooling system.
