Amazon Stops Selling the Kindle Fire (For a Week)

The tablet is "sold out," but the company is expected to announce a new Kindle Fire next week.

All Things D: Amazon has temporarily halted sales of its popular Kindle Fire tablet, claiming the device is “sold out.” According to a press release, the tablet is Amazon's best-selling product. In addition, the company claims the Fire has captured "22 percent of U.S. tablet sales."  Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos states, “This has been a big year for digital products on Amazon—all of the top 10 sellers on Amazon.com since Kindle Fire launched just less than a year ago are digital products. Kindle Fire is sold out, but we have an exciting roadmap ahead—we will continue to offer our customers the best hardware, the best prices, the best customer service, the best cross-platform interoperability, and the best content ecosystem.”

Amazon has a press event scheduled for next week and is expected to announce an updated version of the Kindle Fire.
