Among the myriad of sources for free mobile software links is a site called Getjar. This one's nice because the diversity of what comes up on the home page gives you a wide view of what's available for free.

Want to reduce your texting chargers? Check out Messmo for free SMS and picture messaging to other users. Or how about Nimbuzz, which consolidates your buddy lists from various IM services, your contacts/address book and so forth and gives you quick access to calls, chats and messaging. Get MTV Mobile to watch new music videos or HandyBirthdays to ensure you never forget to call.
