Facebook Buys Lightbox

Lightbox makes a mobile app that is similar to the one made by Instagram, which Facebook also recently purchased.

The Inquirer: On the heels of its $1 billion purchase of Instagram, Facebook has snapped up another photo-app maker--Lightbox. For now, the Lightbox service is shutting down, and users have until June 15 to download their photos. Lightbox's Thai Tran and Nilesh Patel announced, "Today, we're happy to announce that the Lightbox team is joining Facebook, where we'll have the opportunity to build amazing products for Facebook's 500+ million mobile users."

The Lightbox source code will be available through GitHub.
